Spend Maximum Time on the Water

Learning to sail REQUIRES lots of time on the water, and at Ondeck you spend 95% of your course time on the water SAILING. Many other schools are classroom focused but at Ondeck, you sit on a BOAT - not a chair.

Our courses introduce you to the concepts and then make sure that you have plenty of time to practice, learn and know each step before moving on to larger boats and bigger water. Our Basic Keelboat, for example, runs for a total of 6 days, vs. the common 3 to 4 days most other companies use to teach the same material. This additional time on the water is critical in providing YOU with the skills and content required to make you a competent sailor.

>

Learn with the Newest and Best Equipment

Enjoy a Challenging and Beautiful Location

Charleston's warm climate and its broad, shallow waters provide a comfortable backdrop to the constant challenge of tides, winds, river currents and offshore conditions, all of which develop students' sail planning and close-quarter maneuvering skills.

"There is nowhere else in the U.S. that you can sail all year round with a dependable sea breeze in a protected harbor. The combination of great breeze and tricky currents makes Charleston Harbor excellent for racing." - Reggie Fairchild, Co-chairman, Melges 24 Nationals, Charleston 2008
