Basic Keelboat 1 and 2 Certification
Learning to sail is EASY and FUN with Ondeck Charleston!
Our US Sailing Basic Keelboat classes take the novice or untrained sailor and turns them into to competent sailors with a firm foundation in sailing fundamentals. The course begins by teaching the basics of sailing and boat handling during the 3-day Basic Keelboat 1 curriculum. The US Sailing curriculum then progresses into the 3-day Basic Keelboat 2 course which focuses on the student's ability to handle the boat in a variety of conditions and coordinate crew for both efficient sailing and crew safety. Students practice their new skills extensively "on the water" throughout the duration of these courses. This on the water focus is imperative in learning the complexities of sailing in conditions governed by tides, changing wind patterns and currents.
Our objective is to equip each graduate with the skills required to sail boats up to 30ft in length. Basic Keelboat 1 & 2 are the first of the 5 classes in the U.S. Sailing Certification progression to
TOTAL sailing proficiency.

The course is divided into 2 parts so that you may take the 6 days together or in two 3-day blocks, at your convenience. All Ondeck Charleston classes accept no more than four students per instructor, guaranteeing you a high level of personalized attention.
